While industrialisation was started to create negative effects on environment until 20th century, increase on emission of green house gases causes climate change, and creates a threat on the life of species. insecure balance of environment forced international actors looking for new solutions in unfcc and kyoto protocol.

Kyoto Protocol is an initiative that countries came together for protecting environmental balance. Protocol aims to reduce carbon emissions by 5.2% from the 1990 level. In this response Annex 1 countries, who commits to decrease the carbon emissions with modernising the available industries (t-t-c-h technology, transfer, clearing house), and also with making new investments on renewable energy are targeting to reduce their carbon emissions until 2012.

Voluntary carbon market functions outside of the compliance markets, which was based on corporate social responsibility and carbon credits supplied from this market encourages renewable energy projects.
